and would it help take the iron overload I have in my body? My nurse said to do a colon cleanse after the tests were done, but would charcoal supplements be more effective?

Activated charcoal is type of carbon made from wood, vegetables and other materials. It looks like a fine black powder. Activated charcoal is believed to have a large adsorptive capacity, making it able to bind with unwanted substances and toxins in the gut.
Charcoal supplements may help to lower cholesterol by interfering with enterohepatic circulation of bile acids. It has been found to lower total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol.
I think it is better you consult a doctor about this case because it is really complicated and I personally think you should listen to the nurse and rather colon cleanse is safer^_^
