How do you know when a colon cleanse is working?

I am using the Michael's brand "Ultimate Detox & Cleanse" and do not notice any results.

You may notice either diarrhea or that your poop is a bit bulkier than normal. Be SURE that you are getting enough water. Two liters a day is ideal during a cleanse… at least that!

If you have poor digestion, irritable bowel, or food sensitivities, I recommend another option to you, though. How healthy are your small intestines? Because of antibiotics in our diets, we often kill the healthy bacteria needed to help break down food in our small intestines. Our small intestines are the organ in our body that is most like our brains. There are loads of neurotransmitters and complicated communications mechanisms. By putting such a taxing burden on our small intestines by our processed diets and antibiotics, many people have created a semi-permeable lining of the small intestines. Our intestines have lost the some of the ability to protect us from harmful molecules. Thus we can more easily develop food intolerances. Be sure you take probiotics AND the following elements are the fundamental elements in repairing your small intestines:
"L-Glutamine helps protect the mucosal cells of the small and large intestine, which provide a protective barrier against infection.
Studies using L-Glutamine have shown excellent results in helping to relieve digestive disorders.
N-Acetyl-D-Glucosamine is one of the building blocks of cellular tissue.
Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA) is a precursor to the series 1 anti-inflammatory prostaglandins.
Gamma Oryzanol (natural extract of rice bran oil) is a soothing intestinal plant substance, rich in phytochemicals and antioxidants, such as phytosterols, beta sitosterol and ferulic acid esters.
Gamma Oryzanol’s mechanism of action is thought to be its ability to help normalise the nervous system’s control of digestive secretions."
(These are ingredients found in Nutri's Permeability Factors. Recommended in a book that is an authority on chronic fatigue syndrome, which seems to have a lot of symptoms that are tied to digestion).
I wouldn't be satisfied with just a colon cleanse because the colon really isn't key to digesting and metabolizing nutrients… though it does play a role in poop consistency… look to healing your small intestines. More people have a problem with candida or gut permeability than doctors are aware of.
There are even home test kits online.
If you are sitting at a monitor and not on the toilet with a laptop in front of you, it is not working yet.
When you're sitting on the can
WHEN YOUR STOMACH STARTS TO RUMBLE AND YOU FEEL A RUSH FROM THE BOTTOM THEN ITS WORKING
pooh pooh
Any "colon cleanse" is just a laxative. (The "detox" is just pure bullsh!t – there's nothing in your colon that needs "detoxing"!!) Your product is "working" when you get diarrhea. Feel better?
Perhaps the best way it to go to a colon cleansing center (where a trained operator flushes water through your large bowel). They can tell by observing the waste in a sealed container if: you have mucous from too much sugars, if you have Candida, and if you bowel is dehydrated.
Otherwise, you should be able to notice that you feel less bloated, lighter, and more positive psychologically yourself.
