Questions about a possible colon cleanse.?
I’ve been wanting to do a colon cleanse for a long time. I want to use it to gain energy, help my metabolism, and lose some possible belly weight. I think it would help me feel much healthier.
I am 20 years ago, a female, I do not smoke currently, but I have. And I usually drink 3 times a week, 10 drinks each time.
Just a few questions:
1) how long does a colon cleanse usually last?
2) could i be on a cleanse and still go through my daily routine (college, hw, sleep, etc.)
3) would it be bad to use a colon cleanse if i’m currently on Prozac and the birth control pill Kariva?

Well, I don’t know how the meds would be effected by it, but I did some research online before I bought a colon cleanse product. The top rated one is Dr. Natura’s. It’s like a kit. It comes with teas & pills. & a fiber powder.Just follow the directions. You will need excess to the restroom, though..
Double check with your doctor.
gain energy by removing "toxins"(vague term=useless) from your colon, that simply violates the laws of thermodynamics.
this is a useless procedure that isn’t even medically sound.
Colon cleansing is a useless and potentially dangerous. It is often promoted by alt med proponents, but the science is that there is no benefit.
From Wiki:
"No scientific evidence supports the alleged benefits of colon cleansing. The bowel itself is not dirty and barring drugs or disease, cleans itself naturally without need for assistance. Some types of colon cleansing present potential hazards; the equipment used during colon cleansing has caused damage to the rectum in a small number of individuals, and caused amoebiasis when improperly sterilized. Certain enema preparations have been associated with heart attacks and electrolyte imbalances. Frequent colon cleansing may interfere with the proper functioning of the colon and can lead to dependence on laxatives or enemas to defecate."
"Colon cleansing may disrupt the balance between bacteria and natural chemicals in the bowel, and may interfere with the colon’s ability to shed dead cells. Other rare but serious complications include gastrointestinal perforation from improper insertion, and amoebic infection from poorly sterilised equipment. Some colon cleansing regimes disrupt fluid and electrolyte balance which may lead to dehydration and salt depletion, whilst repeated or excessive cleansing programs can lead to anemia and malnutrition. Excessive use of enemas have also been associated with cardiac problems such as heart failure, and heart attacks related to electrolyte imbalances when used with coffee. The frequent use of enemas or other colon cleansing tools may lead to dependence and an inability to defecate without assistance or withdrawal symptoms."

The best colon cleanse I ever used is Bromalite from http://p.gs/0yc2y
and it works great. I was totally freed of all my stress and my energy level was up due to the presence of probiotic and antioxidants. I used it for 4 weeks. There’s no problems of disturbing your regular routine. Regarding your third question, better consult a doctor.
