Colon cleanse products are frequently advertised on TV. Would one ever need to use them?I have no problem with regular bowel movements and was wondering if these advertisements were just scare tactics used in order to sell their products.

I started taking 3 diet pills. one of the is a colon cleanse. the others just support fat loss. But I’ve been on the colon cleanse and its made me feel worse. I had very bad diarrhea, and sometime I have no control over my bowel movements. I have to go at least 6 or 7 times a day. Ive been on it for a week, and i expected to feel better after a few days because ive always had some stomach troubles…what does it mean, if my digestive system has gotten worse?
I have not lost any weight, i stay at the same weight all day, everyday. in fact ive gained weight and look more bloated.
hey just wanted to let you know, i am too on aclai berry and CLA. still nothing

Bowel Movements. 10pts?

I heard that you should have a bowel movement TWICE a day, and that this is normal.
Having a bowel movement once a day is fine, too.
Having a bowel movement every other day is not very good,
and having a bowel movement every few days is very irregular (bad).

I tend to have bowel movements every few days, and I didn’t know that it’s not normal. I eat plenty of salads (atleast one a day). I don’t eat a lot of cheese, or things that would cause constipation.

I thought maybe I should take some powder fiber for my drinks, but I heard that it’s bad, and that I should cleanse my colon. I have tried "colon cleanse" pills, but I think it was just a gimmic because they did absolutely nothing!

What suggestions would you give?
How regular are your bowel movements.
Should I get this checked out, or just change my diet, and add on some fiber options.
The only medication that I’m on is Lybrel Birth Control.

Say you had a symptom of colon cancer maybe 4 years ago, but then 4 years later you feel fine, energetic and still feel good and healthy even after hard days labor, have a good appetite, no nausea or fatigue, etc and still have the same normal weight is it a good chance that you dont really have the cancer? Or would the symptoms actually get worse if you really had the cancer? Reason i ask is because 4 years ago i saw blood in my stool ( which i did go to the doctor and it turns out i have a pilondial cyst which bleeds periodically) I was 18 at the time and now im 22, and even tho i went to the doctor I was still so scared about this, he assured me i was fine, but since im pessimistic it still has been in the back of my mind for the past 4 years that I think about it all the time. Since then iv become obsessed witht he consistancy and frequency of bowel movements etc, and have also become more anxious and nervous ever since. Physically i have no other symptoms and I havent really had anything else aside from occasional gas, etc but nothing persistant. I did a colon cleansing and that seemed to work and increased my bowel frequency. Lately though iv been very nervous and my bowel movements though normal, feel like htey are smaller than usual when i go. Is this cause of my nervousness? Iv been to the doctor and he says its just in my head because i think about it all the time, but i still say that ever since i seen the blood in my stool, even though the pilondial cyst was doing it, I still get worried. Physically i feel fine. I work a physically gruelling job 40 hours a week, sometimes 9 hours a day and i have alot of energy, I eat alot, and my weight has been the same since i can remember, the only thing is that I get extremely anxious and nervous and i still cant seem to stop worrying. I figure that if i really would have had a cancer for this long i might feel sicker , but im still not assure, nothing ever puts me to ease, not even a doctors word.

I am a 29 year old overweight male. I’ve always had the ability to have a healthy, good sized bathroom break. For about the last week or so, I’ve been eating normally, but I’ve only really had explosive diarrhea, or watery bowel movements with a little bit of soft feces, and a liquid floating on top. The last time I tried to go I ended up passing a small piece of what looked like those sales pictures you see for colon cleanse products. It looked like tripe (cow stomach) you see on the grocery store shelves. I haven’t had the urge to go at all in the past 2 days, but I made myself try to a few minutes ago. After straining almost to the point of passing out, I passed a small, hard grey/green colored clay-like stool.

I’m worried I may be developing, or already have a bowel obstruction, and the diarrhea is squeezing past that. From what I’ve read it could also be IBS (which I am not diagnosed with yet). I am able to pass gas (and a lot of it), but that seems to be all I’m passing lately. Should I worry? To go from one extreme (diarrhea) to the other (severe constipation) doesn’t seem right.

I also have mild stinging pains radiating around my stomach, similar to what I would have before/after having a bout of diarrhea, but nothing seems to want to come out.
I’m freaking out about this and cant even sleep or calm down, so any help would be appreciated. I will call a doctor when they open but until then, I’ll be worrying my butt off.

Massive Constipation with IBS and IBD?

I have IBS and IBD (proctitis -constipation with 2-3 healthy bowel movements (BM) a week). I have not had a regular bowel moment in 4 months. I eat a high fiber diet, no caffine only water. I recently went almost 2 weeks without a BM. I took 2 Xstrength EXlax, metamucil, 2 enemas and one bottle of Fleet and nothing came out. I had xrays and it showed that I have massive constipation. I am seeing a specialist next month.

I have been on a 3 month colon cleansing system for two weeks, taking 3 240mg stool softeners per day and still nothing. I have developed lower back pain and find it hard to stand straight or lay flat. I am always hungry and no matter how much sleep I get I am always tired. I have a 4-5 gumball pellets BM every couple of days – I think there is no room for the food I eat so some has to come out. Also have rectal bleeding – no hemmoroids. I have lost a couple of pounds. Bad stomach cramps.

Any suggestions on what may be wrong or what I can do?

Poor Digestion Help?

I seem to have fairly poor digestion. I eat at least 20 grams or more fiber a day, and drink at least 2 liters of water a day. Usually more. And I still seem to have poor bowel movements. I’m not sure what else is causing it. I seem to have a lot of gas, if that helps in figuring it out. I don’t want to have to take laxatives. I want to do this as natural as possible. Would doing a one-time colon cleanse help get things moving normally again? Oh, I also take acidophillus(sp?) and papaya enzyme pills. I don’t get many fruits or veggies, and not a lot of protein. I also do at least a half hour of DDR six days a week. Any ideas on what could be wrong without going to see a doctor? I have no insurance at the moment so I’d like to be a last resort. Thank you.

EDIT: Goofed up and I had to repost. :p Sorry.
Forgot to add I don’t eat fast food, but I do eat canned soup and one Fiber One bar a day. That’s all the processed food I eat.

Hi. I’m 15 years old and I have a bowel problem. Every time I have to take a #2 it’s usually once every week and they become to big to flush. I did have frequent constipation when I was younger. I am currently taking fiber pills but my once a week bowel movements keep ocurring. I’m thinking of trying a colon cleanse or enema. If all else fails, I’m heading to a gastroantologist.

Toxins in your system, any truth?

I saw an info mercial about toxins building up in your body and colon. Saying if you feel tired and sluggish, have bowel movements less than twice a day (which 2 a day is normal) then you have toxins built up in your body from not eating proper foods and you should use a colon cleanse product. Of course there just trying to sell there product but im wondering if theres any truth behind all that. Can you really have a bad buildup of toxins in your body. Because i only have bowel movents once a day sometimes once every other day and i always feel like im tired. My doctor already ruled out any health problems for that. Im in great health. Can toxins really build in your body and can they really cause all that? And is a colon cleanse product the way to go to get rid of the toxins? It all sounds gross to me about the toxins, you should have heard his expelanation, i want the stuff gone if its really true.

I’ve had a "broken" bowel since I was about 6 years old. I’ve been to doctors time and time again, and they just send me home saying I’m constipated. I only have bowel movements maybe twice a month, if I’m lucky. I can’t see a gastroenterologist without a referral, and I can’t get a referral because none of the doctors think anything is wrong with me. I’ve not had regular bowel movements for 19 years, I know that’s not constipation. So, my question is: Does anyone have any home remedies that will drastically cleanse my colon that require seeing a doctor???? (Since they aren’t helping me anyway). One more thing…laxatives don’t work. I’ve tried EVERYTHING that I can think of. So ANY help at all will be GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks in advance!
((I’ve even tried the enemas..those are only a quick fix…and even then it doesn’t seem to do much at all..)

Drew and Mike used to talk abou this guy on their moring show. They called him "DR. POO" or something like that. He was/is a real doctor. The guy was selling some kind of colon/digestive tract cleanser that was supposed to produce 1-2 ft. long bowel movements. Anyone know the name of the product? I haven’t listened to them in ages, I can’t get them where I live now.

Serious question. What WAS the name of the colon cleansing product?

Constipation-gas odor.. Help!?

When I was younger I use to hold in my bowel movements. I'm in my 30s now and I can't seem to get things going again. I have tried almost everything, Health Force cleanses, herbal laxative, eating healthy, probiotics, magnesium, enemas, you name it. Recently I have been mixing homemade yogurt with a T. Psyllium for the last three weeks. I have been getting some movement but I have so much gas I think I'm going to explode! It has gotten to the point where nothing really responds and it seems I have no control over pushing anything out like the colon is numb inside. Also, because of all of this I am experiencing the gas not coming from rectum it comes directly out of pours. 15-20 minutes after I feel gas in my lower left abdomen I can smell a STRONG odor of eggs coming from me for days at a time. When I was somewhat gassy or constipated when I was younger I never had gas come out of my pours like this. Any explanation for this? I had blood tests done recently and everything looked ok except for high carnitine levels and raised cholesterol. I have had a colonoscopy and endoscopy done as well. I am not sure if it is related but I also have severe gout symptoms in my feet and ankles on a weekly basis. The Dr. said to take IB Profen and no high purine foods which I don't consume. I also get acne/boils that sometimes smell like rotten eggs all over my back and chest. Does anybody have any ideas? I haven't got much help by going to the doctor. Thanks!
I quit drinking a couple years ago and I definitely know alcohol doesn't help the problem. lol
I gotta say though, I think I had better bowel movements even when I was drinking.
Yogurt and high fiber seems to be giving me some relief. I don't recall mentioning my "cure" with using yogurt and fiber. More of a process of conditioning my digestive track. I'm thinking dysbiosis and possible yeast overgrowth causing the problem. That might explain the acne/boils on chest. (yeast?) I think the gas is from introducing fiber to my diet and possibly the bacteria going to work. I have been to a GI dr. and since tests came back negative for major problems he said just keep yourself regular with Myralax, which didn't work at all. Not much help. I guess what I'm asking is if anyone has had similar symptoms and have had success with treating it. Like I said it seems that my system is not responding to most laxatives. A couple weeks ago I tried Epsom salt and it didn't respond at all. When I use to use it a year ago it created diarrhea. It almost seems impossible to create diarrhea if I had to. My goal for now is just to get my system going.

Colon Cleansing – I now have diarrhea?

I am taking a product for colon cleansing. The first day was great as I had several normal bowel movements after almost a year of severe constipation. Previously I averaged using the toilet three times a week. Now, the third day into it I have severe diarrhea as well as some anal leakage. Should I continue, take a smaller dose or stop altogether? In case this is relevant I am using a product called OXY-POWDER.

Does this diet plan sound good?

Take a look at the diet plan below and tell me what you think.

Rapid Weight Loss Plan

General Information

This diet is also a fast and is fat- burning. The key is that you will burn many more calories than you will take in. It will flush your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well- being. This diet does no lend itself to drinking any alcoholic beverages at any time b/c of the removal of fat build- up in your system. Go off the diet for at least twenty-hours before consuming any alcohol.

Because each person’s digestive system is different, this diet will not have the same effect on everyone. After three days, if you don’t cheat, you will have more energy that before you began. After you have been on the diet for several days, you may find that your bowel movements have changed and you may need to eat a cup of bran or fiber. Although you can have black coffee with this plan, after the third day you may find that you don’t need the caffeine.

The Basic Fat Burning Soup can and should be eaten anytime you feel hungry… eat as much as you want. Remember, the more of the soup you eat, the more you will lose.

Definite no-no’s on the plan are:
• Breads
• Alcohol
• Carbonated drinks (including diet)
• All fried foods
This diet will not interfere with any prescribed medication. You can eat broiled chicken for the beef if you wish, but absolutely no skin on the chicken. If you wish you can substitute broiled fish for beef on one of the beef days. You need the high protein from beef on the other day. Continue this plan as long as you wish and feel better both mentally and physically.

The Basic Fat Burning Soup

6 large onions
1 to 2 cans of tomatoes
1 large head of cabbage
2 green peppers
I bunch of celery
1 package of Lipton soup mix

Season with salt, pepper, curry, parsley if desired, or bullion, or hot sauce.

Cut vegetables in small to medium pieces and cover with water. Boil fast for ten minutes. Reduce to simmer and continue cooking until vegetables are tender. This soup can be eaten anytime you are hungry. Eat as much as you want, whenever you want as this soup will not add calories. The more you eat, the more you will lose. Fill a thermos in the morning if you will be away during the day. If eaten alone for an indefinite period of time, you would suffer malnutrition.
Day 1
All fruits except bananas. Cantaloupe and watermelon are lower in calories than most fruits. Eat only fruits with soup. For drinks, use unsweetened tea, cranberry juice or water

Day 2
All vegetables eat al the fresh, raw or canned vegetables until you are stuffed. Try to eat green, leafy veggies and stay away from dry beans, peas, corn. Eat them along with the soup. At dinner only on this day, reward yourself with a big baked potato and butter. Do not eat any fruits.

Day 3
Eat the soup, fruits and veggies you want. Do not have a baked potato.

If you have eaten as specified for three days, and have not cheated, you will find you have lost between five to seven pounds.

Day 4
Bananas and skimmed milk. Eat as many as three bananas and drink as many glasses of water as you can, along with the soup. Bananas are high in calories and carbohydrates as is the milk, but on this particular day your body will need potassium, carbohydrates, proteins and calcium to lessen you craving for sweets.

Day 5
Beef and vegetables. You may have 10 to 20 ounces of beef plus a can of tomatoes or as many as six fresh tomatoes on this day. Try to drink six to eight glasses of water to flush the uric acid from your body. Eat the soup at least once on this day.

Day 6
Beef and vegetables. Eat the beef and veggies to your hearts content on this day. You can even have two or three steaks if you like, with green, leafy veggies but no baked potato. Be sure to eat the soup at least one time.

Day 7
Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juices and veggies. Once again, eat all you want. Be sure to have the soup at least one time.

At the end of the seventh day, you should have lost ten to seventeen pounds if you have not cheated. If you have lost more than fifteen pounds, stay off the diet for two days before resuming the diet from one day.

This seven- day eating plan can be used as often as you like. If correctly followed, it will cleanse your system of impurities and make you feel better than ever.

After only seven days, you will have an abundance of energy and will feel much lighter. Continue with the plan as long as you wish as feel the difference!

i started drinking green tea along with my diet and exercise program, and it seems as though it is causing me to have more frequent bowel movements throughout the day. and when i say frequent, i mean like at least 3 a day. can anybody shed some light on a possible answer to this question?

I started using a cleansing product recommended by an herbalist that I get my vitamins from. The first few days all I noticed was increased bowel movements. Now I am sick to my stomach, cramping, diarrhea. Are these possible side affects? I thought maybe just a bug, but we are going on day three of these intermittent symptoms and I have never had a flu bug go that long. Is it possible that these supplements have flushed out the helpful bacteria in my colon? And yes I did stop taking!!!

♥ Are colon cleanses a load of crap?

I'm once again a raging insomniac tonight. So i turned on the tv to try and fall asleep. And all there's on are infomercials. So, there's one on a colon cleanse.

I'm sitting here at this ungodly hour of the morn, watching a programme on Poo. How sad is that?

They're seriously disgussing bowel movements and excrement like they're talking about the weather. I've got to hand it to these actors….. i don't know that i could sit there and ask questions about fecal matter and taking a dump with a straight face. I would probably need several takes because i would laugh my asz off.

I'm so revolted by the subject topic… and yet i find it somewhat interesting.

Now, i don't believe anything i ever see on an infomercial as i know they are all paid actors. But I do understand the necessity of detoxifying the body. Even so, an entire programme dedicated to poo. Is that a load of crap or what? lol

Is there a way to cleanse or at least have MUCH better bowel movements without the use of doctors, special pills and wierd teas?

I mean like any normal foods/drinks or even positions….I ask this because lately I have been having sluggish bowels and constipation, but don’t want to use any medicine/pills/clinical procedures and just stick to a natural way.
No Scanner I didn't know…what's wrong with using straight water with an enema

(Doctors' answers prefered.)
Is it safe to take liver cleansing supplements and colon cleansing supplements? If so, is there a certain brand you recommend? What exactly is in the supplement that is effective? Is it possible to overdose? I am a 20 yr old female with irregular bowel movements and occational nausea. My stomach is often uncomfortable and bloated (even when I'm not on my period), and I'm wondering if it would help to take colon cleansing supplements. Every now and then, maybe every 2-3 months, I get so nauseous for an hour or so and then I vomit. After I vomit I feel better but I still feel exhausted so I usually go to sleep afterwards. I already exercise, drink plenty of water, and eat healthy, but nothing I do seems to work. My doctor says there is nothing she can do because there is no consistency and there doesn't seem to be a certain food that triggers it so she can't diagnose anything. Also, I don't know if this is relevant but sometimes if I'm hungry I get dizzy. If I dont eat enough I get very fatigued and sometimes dizzy. I'm 5'4" and about 108 lbs. That is a healthy weight for my body type. Just to clarify, I don't starve myself, I always try to make sure I've eaten enough. Thanks

I heard that colon cleansers not only help you cleanse your system but also you may lose a little bit of weight in your belly, I for one know that i need it for cleansing, i dont have regular bowel movements usually twice – three times a week for me, i know if i take a cleansing system i can get all this junk out of my system, i would like to know if anyone has tried any of this methods and does it work and have you lost weight! Please dont give a lecture on eating right and seeing a doctor, i just want to know about what is the good brand to use and if it works.

Clogged digestive system?

So heres a little background… I realized I probably have a problem with Candida (yeast) overgrowth due to antiobiotic use a while back, sinus infections, and a diet full of dairy, meat, and processed foods instead of fruits and vegetables (and low fiber).

Before I started any type of treatment for this, my “stools” were irregular, maybe 2 times in 3 days, and I would often either be constipated or have really loose, smelly diahrrea (sorry).

I first started on the Candida Diet and only ate berries, meat, vegetables, and everything else in extreme moderation (except for some alcohol on the weekends). I then started using Candida Clear by NOW, its a blend of potent anti-fungal herbs which got pretty good reviews. I started taking this to help with the Candida, and thought I would also do a colon cleanse concurrently to make sure there wasnt some kind of blockage making my candida worse. I used Oxy-Powder, which uses ozone (oxygen) to cleanse the digestive system. I think my bowels might really be screwed up though, because when I took the recomended dose (4) I didnt get much results. Once I upped it to 8 pills, I got the effects I had expected but while it said to expect 3 bowel movements a day, I still only got 1 or 2. I also take Dr. Ohhira’s probiotics to help replenish the good baceria. Together, this approach led me to lose a lot of waterweight and my acne got MUCH better over a week or two.

After doing this for a while I decided to use a psyllium (fiber) based colon cleanser to see if it would work better than the oxy-powder. I am still taking Candida-fighting pills but now taking psyllium twice a day. I expected this to increase my bowel movements and maybe even pull out a few “ropes” like you see from Colonix (psyllium is the main ingredient in the system). None of this has happened – since I started taking the psyllium I have felt bloated around my midsection and clogged up. I’ve gone back to only having bowel movements of about 2 in 3 days.

Now my main question is: could the candida be why I am so clogged up? Could it be from eating too much meats? What should I do now? I just want to clear out my gut, and now I’m afraid the psyllium I thought would help is lodged in there and might not come out… what supplements could help?

I have just started a body/colon cleanse routine which simply calls for my taking 2 -3 pills in the am & pm, but I normally take a multi, super B, calcium, milk thistle (clean liver) as well as Omega 3. I noticed with the cleanse, that having 2 bowel movements pushes everything out faster. Can someone who has done this give me a reply? This is not aimed at losing weight, but ridding the body of toxins since I do take allergy meds.

I was recently told that I was full of crap! I pondered this question for a moment or two, then headed straight to you, the insightful ones.

So how is one to know if they are truly in need of a cleansing, or as what a colonic preveyor may refer to as detoxification.

Now, if my schooling taught me anything, it was that the colon, also called the large intestine follows the small intestine and comprises the end of the gastrointestinal tract. Now, we learned that most nutrients from food are absorbed in the small intestine. This would entail the colon to absorb water and salts from the stool while it pushes it along through the rectum. Correct?
Wouldn't laxatives work just the same? They promote bowel movements, have been around for atleast 3892 Years!
Colon cleansing refers to a more invasive procedure of water and hoses stuck you-know-where. It's not clear when this practice started.

It's not poo in the toilet that ponders my couriosity, it's the poo in me!

i need to clean obviously i have irregular bowel movements and i needt to do this but i cant take pain and i dotn feel like spending a fortune on something that is going to make me go every 20 minutes so no carmping and doesnt cost much something id prefer to drink that doesnt taste horrible that i puke so any suggestions would be great, i want to be able to go one or two times in one day to get everything out so something effective what if i eat alot of garlic and drink alot of apple juice garlic kills parisites so i think that is important. any one have any ideas or recipes?? seriously people if ur a 10 to 18 year old dont answer this questions cuz u have no idea, a doctor would be helpful.

juice fasting and a colon cleanse?

ok, is there anyone who knows a way to do a natural at home colon cleanse. See, i am going on a 15-21 day fast to detoxify my body. If i am not eating, there is nothing that will make me have bowels movements exept if i have a colon cleanse. anyone know of any variations or alternative teas to drink to have frequent bowel movements while on a juice fast.

Is my organic herbal colon cleanse working?

I have been taking an organic herbal colon cleanse for about 2wks. Now and the only thing I noticed is increased bowel movements. Nothing major like elimination of built up waste as it promises. The product is called Bromolite and it says it does all these things and I haven't seen any. I have been eating properly and exercising, which promotes bowel movement and still nothing. Is it too soon? Am I wasting my time and should try something else? Please help! I really want to flush this stuff from my colon.
